What is the Alexander Technique?

The Alexander Technique is a re-education that begins by assisting you to improve the perception of your posture and movement.  You learn to give priority to the poise of the head and spine.  This may result in a better understanding of your balance and coordination, helping to improve your functioning and reactions to stimuli.  This can help you avoid unnecessary tension in everyday activities. It is very gentle but effective; when we have tendencies of tension we wish to alter, we need to gently coax ourselves away from them.

Many of us go through life with unnecessary tension in ourselves, simply out of habit. A bit like driving a car only using first gear, this will work… but not well, and can lead to lasting damage!
The Alexander Technique is a holistic practice, and changes in our body, and that calm attention on ourselves, reap other rewards such as a greater sense of wellbeing.
