How Can it Help?

Often people come to the Alexander Technique because of pain. I did! When we consistently have more tension than we need in our bodies, they start to complain. The Alexander Technique can help you learn to have less tension, and more flexibility, balance, and choice. But it’s not only a physical thing. It really is a transferable skill. By applying its principles, we can change how we are in other ways too. That sense of always having to do everything ‘right’. Or of not quite having enough time. And as a result our lives, as well as our bodies, can have less tension and more flexibility, balance and choice.
As you can see, the pen holder I was given as a child no longer has its nose and feet pointing in the same direction! This sort of thing can happen to us too, over time, as we tend to move in certain ways that aren’t so good for us. These might be as a result of always carrying a school bag on one shoulder, for example, or hunching over a laptop or dropping our head towards a mobile phone when we use it.
I can help you change those tendencies that contribute towards you being less able to achieve your potential and enjoying a healthy life. The Alexander Technique is a holistic practice and as your body starts to become more balanced and co-ordinated, you can find that it allows you to be your best.

The Alexander Technique is a powerful tool for self-development and increased self-knowledge and awareness.  Due to this, anyone who wants help to achieve their potential can make good use of Alexander principles.
